ALDIP Mission and Purpose

The Association of Law School Diversity Professionals (ALDIP) is a not-for-profit organization promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as a discipline and core value of legal education and professional practice.

Our mission and purpose values collaborative design of DEI standards and best practices that drive diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and cultural competency in the academy and by extension in the legal profession.

ALDIP serves member law schools by providing:

  • a vehicle for the professionalization of DEI roles
  • best practices for attracting new people to this area of administration
  • an professional organization offering reliable tools that support the establishment of successful DEI practice standards
  • support for shaping the legal academy’s efforts to increase diversity in the profession, to improve student outcomes, and to incorporate professional identity formation, cultural competency, race, and bias into the law school curriculum as now mandated by ABA Rule 303 (b) and (C).

ALDIP serves individual DEI professionals by providing:

  • information, education, and certifications that enhance their influence on campus and in the legal academy
  • support and community to combat professional isolation, and address the toll of DEI work on individual and collective well-being
  • reliable tools for career development, leadership development, and community
  • a professional organization with an organized infrastructure that supports institutional accountability and the establishment of practice standards
